Usana founder Dr. Myron Wentz is a world-renowned microbiologist and immunologist.
He spent the early part of his working life researching the effects of infectious
diseases on the human cell. He was the founder of a company called Gull Laboratories
in 1974, where his work focused on the development of diagnostic test kits for
infectious diseases. By 1977 a number of Dr. Wentz's diagnostic assays had FDA
approval and were ready for manufacture and distribution. Many of the test kits
personally developed by Dr. Wentz are still used today.
During the mid to late 1900s there was a dramatic shift in the leading causes
of premature deaths around the world, from infectious diseases to degenerative
diseases. The 5 leading causes of premature deaths today are all degenerative
conditions including heart disease, cancer, strokes, respiratory diseases and

Degenerative disease had personally affected Dr. Wentz, as his father had died
